SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20---PROGRAM – “Attracting Butterflies to your Garden and Encouraging Them to Stay” will be presented by Cobb County Master Gardeners. Come and learn the lifecycle of the butterfly and the plants that not only attract them to you garden but invite them to stay. The program will be presented by lifetime Master Gardener Becky Blades who has been gardening for over 35 years and helps maintain butterfly gardens at schools and a hospital therapy garden.
PLACE: McEachern Demonstration Garden at McEachern High School, 2400 New Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. FREE to the public

Advanced Master Gardener Training
The course, Advanced Master Gardener Leadership, is scheduled
on Friday Oct. 17, 2008. The cost is $10.00 (make checks out to Cobb County 4-H) The training will be limited to 50 Master Gardeners.
It will be held at the Cobb County Water Lab training room located at 662 South Cobb Dr., Marietta, GA.
The tentative schedule of times/topics:
9:00-10:30: Colors- identifying how personality plays a role in leadership development
10:30-10:45: Break
10:45-12:00: Team Development Theory and Strategies
12:00-1:00: Lunch
1:00-2:30: Communication and Conflict...the two ingredients to team sustainability
2:30-4:00: Team work (development of mission, vision& goals)
For this training preference is given to county Master Gardener groups (3+). This will help us conduct future training on subject in different places and build a resource base in different counties.
