What is 4-H? 

The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. This mission is accomplished through "hands on" learning experiences which focus on agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship.

Who is Eligible?

All youth,  grades 5-12, residing in Cobb County may join 4-H.

When and where are 4-H meetings held?

During the school year 4-H Council  meetings are held monthly at the 4-H office.  There also are several 4-H clubs active at many schools in Cobb County.  Optional activities are held after school and occasionally on weekends. 

4-H Summer Camps:

4-H offers a wide variety of camping opportunities for youth.  From Wahsega in Dahlonega, to Jekyll Island, Rock Eagle near Eatonton, Tybee Island and Camp Fulton, fun and exciting times are waiting for you.  Recreation, sports, environmental activities, rock climbing, rafting, campfires, and hiking are just a few of the activities offered to Cobb County 4-Hers attending camp.

4-H Activities: 

Cloverleaf (5th and 6th graders):  activities include County and District Project Achievement.   Cloverleaf summer camp, summer day programs and County Council for 6th graders.

Juniors (7th and 8th graders):  activities include District Project Achievement (DPA), Junior summer camp, Marine Resources camp, County Council, Junior Rally, District Board.

Seniors (9th-12th grades):  activities include District Project Achievement, Senior summer camp, County Council, Fall Forum, State Congress, Senior Conference, District and State Board, and State Council.

 

4-H  Clubs:

Cloverleaf 4-H clubs: 5th graders may attend meetings at their school where 4-H clubs exist.  The meetings usually occur during the school day and are educational, focusing on sciences. nature and the environment.

Junior 4-H clubs:  Where 4-H clubs exist, middle school students may attend monthly club meetings at their school which take place either before or after school.  Projects may deal with  self-development, science, nature, and the environment.  The Junior County Council  meets monthly to work on a variety of current interest topics, community service projects, and events.

 

Are there membership fees?

No.  There may be nominal cost and fees for some activities. There are costs and  fees for summer camp.

 

Adult volunteer leaders:

Volunteers are always welcome and needed.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact our office.
